Internacional

All the early-season talk centred around Flamengo’s strength, but Internacional weren’t reading the script when they struck first at the Maracanã.

A sharp counter-attack was capped off by Bruno Henrique, who finished beautifully from a well-placed Alexandro Bernabei cross.

However, their lead didn’t last long—Léo Pereira brought Flamengo level just moments into the second half. The match ended 1-1, a result Inter will be satisfied with, especially as it extended their unbeaten run.

On Thursday night, Internacional were back in action in the Copa Libertadores, travelling to face Bahia. After falling behind, Enner Valencia came up with the equalizer to secure another point in what ended as yet another score draw.

Following a demanding week on the road, the Porto Alegre side will be glad to return to home soil as they look to keep their momentum going.

Cruzeiro

Cruzeiro earned an opening-day win with a 2-1 victory over newly promoted Mirassol.

First-half goals from new signings Dudu and Gabriel Barbosa gave them a two-goal lead. The visitors managed to pull one back through Lucas Ramon, but Raposa held on to secure all three points in front of a lively home crowd.

It wasn’t as smooth in the Copa Sudamericana, however, as Cruzeiro suffered a 1-0 defeat away to Argentine side Unión Santa Fe. A lacklustre attacking display and missed chances proved costly. They’ll need to put in a stronger performance if they want to bounce back in the next match.
