Game Information

Saturday 12th April – Kick-off – 20:00 (GMT)

Bragantino

Bragantino remain winless in the league after their opening two games. Last weekend, they faced Fluminense away from home and suffered a 2–1 defeat.

Lima opened the scoring for Fluminense, and for much of the game, it looked like his solo goal would be enough to secure the points for the hosts. However, an Isidro Pitta header from the edge of the box found its way into the back of the net, pulling Bragantino level.

But in stoppage time, Bragantino failed to deal with a corner, and Martinelli capitalized to hand Fluminense all three points.

After last year’s relegation battle, Bragantino will be hoping to bounce back quickly and avoid finding themselves in a similar situation this season.

Botafogo

It’s been a positive week for Botafogo, who have returned to winning ways after a disappointing run in recent weeks.

First, they faced Juventude in the league in Rio de Janeiro and took the lead inside 24 minutes when some slick build-up play ended with Igor Jesus powering home a header to fire the champions in front in the pouring rain.

Later in the match, Uruguayan full-back Mateo Ponte latched onto a cross from Cuiabano and blasted the ball into the net to seal the points, giving Fogo their first league win of the season.

In midweek Copa Libertadores action, Botafogo followed that up with another 2–0 win, this time seeing off Carabobo in yet another home victory. Late goals from substitutes Patrick de Paula and Matheus Martins secured the result for the Brazilian side, who will be hoping for more of the same in this upcoming duel.
