Game Information

Sunday 13th April – Kick-off – 20:00 (GMT)

Bahia

Bahia were involved in a real back-and-forth clash away at Santos last time out — and while they didn’t come away with all three points, they’ll be glad to have rescued something late on.

They started well and were in front after just 17 minutes. Erick kept his cool in a 1v1, rounded the keeper and slotted it home to give Bahia the lead.

Things looked under control for a while, but some sloppy defending in the second half let Santos back in, with Thaciano firing home.

Then with nine minutes to go, it looked like Bahia had thrown it away when Diego Pituca fired Santos ahead.

But Bahia wasn’t done. Luciano Juba stepped up in stoppage time, grabbing a late equaliser to earn a hard-fought point.

In midweek, Bahia enjoyed a 1-0 victory in Uruguay against Nacional in the Copa Libertadores.

Mirassol

It was a frustrating yet familiar story for Mirassol in their last league outing as they hosted Fortaleza at home. Despite dominating large spells of the game and creating plenty of chances, they had to settle for just a point – though it was the least they deserved.

Things didn’t start ideally, with Fortaleza taking the lead in the first half thanks to a brilliant goal from Emmanuel Martínez, who rifled one in from the edge of the area. But rather than let their heads drop, Mirassol pushed on.

They controlled the tempo, kept possession well, and fired 20 shots at goal, constantly testing the Fortaleza backline. For most of the second half, it looked like they were going to walk away empty-handed despite being the better side throughout.

That was until Cristian Renato popped up in stoppage time with a well-taken equaliser that finally gave Mirassol some reward for their effort. It wasn’t the win they felt they deserved, but it showed grit and persistence, traits they’ll need as they move forward.

With no midweek fixtures, they come into this match the fresher of the two sides.
