Vitória
Vitória will be hoping to improve their situation, having won just one of their seven league matches so far. The rest have seen them draw three and lose three. Last time out in the league, they travelled to fellow north-eastern side Ceará, where they suffered a 1-0 loss after a first-half goal from Marlon. Vitória were edged out on the day in what was a fairly even contest, but ultimately lacked the cutting edge to take anything from the match.

In midweek, Vitória hosted Argentine side Defensa y Justicia in the Copa Sudamericana group stages. Edu gave the Brazilian side the lead in the first half, but it lasted just 20 minutes before Gastón Togni equalised for the visitors. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Vasco da Gama
Vasco da Gama are winless in their last four matches and currently sit in 14th place. During this run, they’ve lost three times and drawn once, with two of those defeats coming back-to-back. Last time out in the league, they faced Palmeiras at home and suffered a 1-0 defeat after a second-half goal from Vitor Roque. Vasco managed five efforts on goal but couldn’t find a way past Weverton in the Palmeiras net, who held firm to secure all three points.

Things went from bad to worse in midweek for Vasco in the Copa Sudamericana, where they took on Porto Cabello of Venezuela. A penalty from Junior Paredes gave the visitors a 1-0 lead before João equalised. However, in the second half, Vasco collapsed, conceding three more goals from Gerardo Padrón, Raudy Guerrero, and another from Paredes to give the Venezuelan side a historic 4-1 victory.

Vasco will be desperate to bounce back in this one after the humiliation they suffered in midweek.

Prediction – Vitória 2-2 Vasco da Gama
