Botafogo
Champions Botafogo currently sit 12th in the standings after an inconsistent start to the season. Their form has improved slightly in recent weeks, with wins in three of their last four matches in all competitions. However, their most recent league outing saw them fall to a 1-0 defeat away to Bahia in what was a tightly contested match. The decisive goal came in the first half through Cauly, and Botafogo couldn’t find a response.
Then in midweek, Botafogo travelled to Venezuela to take on Carabobo in the Copa Libertadores. Goals from Vitinho and Cuiabano secured a valuable 2-1 win on the road and an important three points for the Brazilian side.
Botafogo will now be hoping to build on that midweek victory as they look to get their league campaign back on track.
Internacional
Internacional have been in mixed form over their last seven matches, picking up two wins, three draws and two defeats. They currently sit 9th in the league standings and will be hoping to raise their level of performance going forward.
It’s been a rough week for Colorado. First, they suffered a 4-2 defeat away to Corinthians in the league. Yuri Alberto opened the scoring before Braian Aguirre and Thiago Maia responded for Internacional. But the turning point came when Bruno Henrique was sent off for a second yellow card, leaving Inter with ten men. Corinthians took full advantage, with Yuri Alberto scoring twice more to complete his hat-trick, and Igor Coronado sealing the win in stoppage time.
Then, in midweek, Internacional’s struggles continued with a 3-1 loss to Colombian side Atlético Nacional in the Copa Libertadores. Alan Patrick converted a penalty for Inter, but it wasn’t enough to stop the defeat. They now have work to do if they want to advance in the competition, but for now, the focus shifts back to league action.
Prediciton – Botafogo RJ 0-1 Internacional
