It’s the final matchweek of the Copa Libertadores group stage — and for Brazil’s giants, everything is on the line. Some clubs have already booked their place in the last 16, others are still in the fight, and a few face win-or-bust scenarios. With group winners, survival, and seeding all at stake, this decisive round promises drama, tension, and potentially heartbreak. Here’s what each Brazilian club needs to do to keep their Libertadores dreams alive.

São Paulo
São Paulo take on Talleres Córdoba, knowing they’ve already secured qualification for the knockout stages. The only task now is to claim top spot in the group, something they can achieve with at least a point. However, with a goal difference advantage of four over Libertad, São Paulo will feel confident about finishing first in the group regardless.

Botafogo
Defending champions Botafogo face Universidad de Chile on the final day of the group stage, knowing that a victory will guarantee their place in the last 16 of the Copa Libertadores.

A draw could also be enough for qualification, but only if Carabobo manage to defeat Estudiantes, a scenario Botafogo will be keen to avoid relying on.

Internacional
Internacional need just a point to secure qualification for the last 16 of the Copa Libertadores. They face fellow Brazilian side Bahia in a crucial all-Brazilian clash.

Inter currently sit second in the group with eight points and not only have the opportunity to qualify, but could also finish top of the group depending on results elsewhere. It’s all to play for, and they’ll be looking to take care of business and avoid relying on other outcomes.

Bahia
As mentioned above, Bahia travel to face Internacional, knowing that only a victory will secure their place in the last 16 of the Copa Libertadores. A draw won’t be enough, so they’ll have to go all out in what is effectively a knockout tie.

History, however, isn’t on their side. Bahia have not beaten Internacional since 2023, and they haven’t managed a win away to Inter since 2014, a statistic they’ll be desperate to change.

Flamengo
Flamengo head into their final Copa Libertadores group stage match knowing that qualification to the next round is within reach. They face Deportivo Táchira of Venezuela, a side already eliminated from the competition, having not picked up a point.

Flamengo can advance with just a point, but they would need LDU Quito to lose against Central Córdoba.

Palmeiras
Palmeiras have already secured qualification to the last 16 of the Copa Libertadores, and they’ve done so in style, topping the group with a perfect record so far.

They face Sporting Cristal in their final group match, knowing there’s no pressure on the result. With qualification and top spot already sealed, Palmeiras will likely take the opportunity to rotate the squad and rest key players ahead of domestic commitments.

Having won all five of their group games, they’ll still be motivated to maintain their 100% record and close out the group stage with a sixth straight victory.

Fortaleza
Fortaleza face a crucial test in the Copa Libertadores as they take on Argentine side Racing Club, who currently top Group E. The Brazilian side will be looking to avenge their earlier 3-0 home defeat to Racing.

Fortaleza need a victory to guarantee their place in the last 16. A draw would also likely be enough, as they currently hold a goal difference advantage that should see them through regardless of the result between Bucaramanga and Colo-Colo.

However, a defeat would leave Fortaleza vulnerable, and they would then have to rely on Colo-Colo dropping points in the group’s other fixture to secure qualification.
