Monday Night Football in the Brasileirão sees Juventude host Sport Recife at the Alfredo Jaconi Stadium. This will be the sides’ first game since the break for the Club World Cup. The pair sit in the bottom four and will be eager to improve.

Juventude come into this match sitting second from bottom and without a win in their last eight matches. Most recently, they suffered a 2-0 home defeat to fellow Rio Grande do Sul side Grêmio.

Since then, they’ve had a break for the Club World Cup, a period they’ll be hoping has allowed them to regroup, work on performances, and treat this as a fresh start in their fight to escape the bottom four.

It’s been a dreadful opening 11 matches in the Brasileirão for Juventude, with just two wins to their name so far, which leaves them sitting in 19th place and trailing the survival places by three points.

The only side performing worse than Juventude in the league is Sport Recife, who, after 11 matches, have yet to record a single win. They’ve drawn three and lost eight in what has been a terrible, terrible season so far.

Things got even worse before the break. In their last Brasileirão outing, they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Mirassol, with Reinaldo scoring early from the penalty spot to hand them another loss. Then, during the Club World Cup break, they played in the Copa do Nordeste, where they crashed out on penalties after a 0-0 draw with Ceará, adding further misery to a bleak 2025 campaign.

Sport Recife haven’t played a league match since June, and they’ll be hoping this enforced break has given them the chance to regroup and prepare for what feels like a must-win phase of the season. They already trail the survival places by a hefty nine-points.
