Ceará

After two defeats in a row, Ceará returned to winning ways in style with a 1-nil victory over their bitter rivals Fortaleza. The win came courtesy of a second-half goal from Paraguayan Antonio Galeano.

Some good work by Pedro Henrique saw him drive at the Fortaleza defence before his shot fell to Pedro Raul, who couldn’t convert, but Galenao reacted quickest to fire the ball into the net, sending the Ceará fans wild and securing a crucial three points against their fierce rivals.

Ceará well and truly deserved their win. They created three big chances, defended solidly, and hit their rivals well on the break. The result sees Ceará sitting in ninth place with five wins, three draws, and four defeats from their 12 matches.

Corinthians
Corinthians will be desperate to return to winning ways after going four matches without a victory. Three of those were draws, with the most recent ending in defeat against fellow Paulista rivals, Bragantino.

Bragantino opened the scoring through an Eduardo Sasha penalty, before Cacá equalised for Corinthians. However, heartbreak struck in stoppage time when Thiago Borbas netted a dramatic winner to seal an exciting victory for Bragantino.

In truth, Corinthians dominated possession and had more shots on target, but failed to find a winning goal. In contrast, Bragantino, despite registering just five shots on target, created four clear cut chances.

Timão will be hoping to tighten up at the back and show more sharpness going forward when they face a confident Ceará side fresh off a derby win.

Prediction – Ceará 1-1 Corinthians
