Game Information – 19/10/2025 – Kick Off 8PM (GMT)

Today’s standout fixture in the Brasileirão sees the top two go head-to-head as Flamengo host Palmeiras in what promises to be an exciting, high-intensity and fiercely competitive clash at the iconic Maracanã Stadium.

After 27 matches, Palmeiras sit at the top of the table with 61 points, three ahead of Flamengo, who are in second place on 58. Although Flamengo come into the fixture with a superior goal difference, Brazil’s primary tiebreaker is head-to-head results, which gives this clash even greater significance. Flamengo, therefore, have every incentive to push for all three points, as a win would bring them level on points with the league leaders and potentially give them the advantage in the title race. Verdão have 19 wins to Flamengo’s 17.

The last time these sides met was back in Round Ten of the Brasileirão. After Palmeiras missed a penalty through Joaquín Piquerez, Flamengo made them pay in the second half. Giorgian de Arrascaeta converted a penalty to open the scoring, before Ayrton Lucas sealed a 2–0 victory.

Flamengo

Flamengo had gone two matches without a win, following a 0–0 draw with Cruzeiro and a 1–0 defeat to Bahia, a match in which they finished with nine men after two red cards. However, their most recent outing marked a strong response, as they produced a dominant 3–0 victory over rivals Botafogo. Pedro opened the scoring in the first half, before Luis Araújo and Gonzalo Plata added to the tally to secure a convincing win. Flamengo were clinical on the day, taking their chances effectively in what was a controlled and confident performance. As mentioned, they trail Palmeiras by three points and will be desperate to draw level at the top with a win in this crucial encounter.

Everton Cebolinha (hip injury) is the only confirmed absentee.

Palmeiras

Palmeiras come into this fixture in outstanding form, having climbed to the top of the table with four consecutive victories, capitalising on Flamengo’s recent slip-ups. After wins over Vasco, São Paulo and Juventude, Palmeiras then faced fellow Paulista side Red Bull Bragantino. Despite falling behind early to a Jhon Jhon penalty, they levelled just before half-time through a Bruno Fuchs header.

The second half turned into a rout, as Vitor Roque (X2), Felipe Anderson and José López, all found the net in a dominant 5–1 win over their state rivals. The emphatic victory has only boosted their confidence heading into what could be a decisive moment in the title race, especially with the opportunity to gain revenge on Flamengo for their defeat earlier in the season. However, Palmeiras will also be well aware that even avoiding defeat here would represent a strong result in their pursuit of the title.

Palmeiras will be without goalkeeper Weverton, who is sidelined with a fractured finger, while Lucas Evangelista misses out due to a thigh injury. Paulinho also remains unavailable as he continues his recovery from leg surgery.

The referee for this match will be Wilton Pereira Sampaio. He has officiated 21 games so far this season, showing a total of 109 yellow cards and six red cards. Notably, four of those red cards came in his most recent match, Fortaleza vs Vasco.
