Game Information
Saturday 5th April – Kick-off – 22:30 (GMT)
Corinthians
After lifting the Campeonato Paulista, Corinthians have failed to build on the confidence from that victory.
First, they drew 1-1 with Bahia on the road. Gilberto fired the hosts into the lead before Everton Ribeiro was shown a second yellow card, giving Corinthians a golden opportunity to get back into the game. They eventually pulled level thanks to Spanish forward Héctor Marrero, who headed home a lovely cross from Brenno Bidon.
Then on Wednesday evening, Corinthians hosted Huracán in the Copa Sudamericana and, despite creating the better chances, suffered a 2-1 loss—something they’ll be desperate to bounce back from in this upcoming duel.
Vasco da Gama
After conceding early in the first half, Vasco da Gama showed great resilience in their opening match against Santos, fighting back in the second half with goals from Nuno Moreira and Pablo Vegetti to secure a 2-1 victory on opening weekend in front of their home fans.
Then on Wednesday evening, they faced Melgar of Peru in the Copa Sudamericana and raced into a 3-1 lead—thanks to a stunner from Philippe Coutinho and a brace from Vegetti. However, Vasco took their foot off the gas late in the game, conceding twice and ultimately having to settle for a point.
Vasco will be kean on backing up last week’s victory with another one here.
